The IFRS Foundation is setting up a sister Board to the IASB, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), to develop sustainability standards. These will provide investors with high quality, globally comparable information on climate and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters. The appointment of Emmanuel Faber, as inaugural Chair of the ISSB, was announced at the end of last year.
The Foundation are expected to appoint the Vice-Chairs shortly and are currently advertising for the remaining 11 members. Prospective candidates for these prestigious and senior roles may have backgrounds as preparers, users of sustainability information, standard-setters, auditors, academics or market, financial and sustainability regulators. The full-time roles will also involve working with the technical staff to provide guidance and thought leadership, and a high level of external stakeholder engagement.
Members will be appointed for a term of up to 5 years, with eligibility for renewal for a further 3-5 years, and will be based at one of the ISSB’s global offices. Part time appointments may be considered.
